voodoo life

The festival was relocated to Riverview Park, popularly known as The Fly. An expanse of grass that runs between the Audubon Zoo and the Mississippi River, The Fly is a popular hangout for sunbathing, picnicking, and sports. A beautiful, breezy day revealed a clean, well laid out festival grounds. A small stage stood near the front entrance, playing host to an eclectic mix of sounds. Perhaps the most adventurously programmed stage, it was overlooked by most everyone, forgotten as the fans filed past en route to the larger stages. The two main stages faced each other like sentinels at the far end of the grounds and a plethora of food and souvenir vendors lined the sides of the grounds between them. Just behind the main stages there was a smaller stage facing the river. This stage, the WWOZ/Windows XP stage, played host to New Orleans bands like the drunken brass revelry of The Morning 40 Federation, the hip hop/experimental stylings of Ballzack, the rock and roll trombone orchestra Bonerama, the roots rock of Theresa Andersson, and the unique New Orleans staple Rebirth Brass Band.
