THE PRODIGY and FATBOY SLIM
CD Review by Ritchie Champagne

always outnumbered, never outgunned

The Prodigy’s CD was released first. I was disappointed upon my initial listen primarily because the song structures that made Fat Of The Land’s most successful tracks stand out were gone. The tracks were not specifically created with live performance in mind in the manner of the 1997 tracks, with Howlett going for a less-screaming-over-loud-guitar-parts album. This is partially why the CD took so long to complete. Howlett did not want to simply repeat 1997’s successful formula and scrapped the album halfway through and started over. The only track to be released from those abandoned sessions was the aforementioned Baby’s Got A Temper.
