| Bowie
has made a career of being the consummate rock and roll chameleon, never
sticking with one look or a sound for very long. Having portrayed Ziggy
Stardust, the Thin White Duke, the coked-up white soul singer,
and the frosty haired 80s pop guy among others, the Reality World Tour
finds Bowie throwing off all signs of his chronic identity crisis
to play the ultimate character in his repertoire: himself. There are no
other artists who have been around for as long as Bowie who have
not descended into the hell of self parody. Looking like a man decades
younger, Bowie still commands the stage, leading his crack troops
through old hits, new tracks, obscure album tracks, and covers with precision
and energy, all the while obviously having the time of his life. |
