adam and the ants
The 2004 Remasters
CD review by Ritchie Champagne
1979 antz memorabilia

Twenty five years after the release of Dirk Wears White Sox, Columbia/Sony has remastered, repackaged, and re-released all three of the Ants recordings complete with rare and unreleased bonus tracks. For now these re-releases are only available as European imports though rumors abound that at least Kings Of The Wild Frontier and Prince Charming will be released domestically.

Dirk Wears White Sox catches Adam in a transitional period, moving from punk to a more glam style. This version restores two songs removed from the US version that were considered to be possibly offensive to Americans: Catholic Day and Day I Met God.

Adam’s lyrics were notable for not being typically punk. A lot of historical figures were featured in his early repertoire, such as Adolf Hitler in Tabletalk, Cleopatra in Cleopatra, and futurists Marinetti Boccioni and Carra Balla Palazzeschi in Animals And Men. The sound quality is crystal clear with lyrics and Dirk era photos included.
